Other Bands on the day - Clews, Cooper and Burgess
Bridgnorth based Clews, Cooper and Burgess have been playing venues around Shropshire for almost a decade. However, they have been friends for a lot longer due to being members in many of the same bands over the years.
Graham Clews is a virtuoso guitarist, singer – songwriter who spent his formative years playing in America, including New York’s CBGB’s Club – and recording demos with Jason Bonham, son of John the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer. Upon his return to the UK, he has led the Graham Clews Band for over 20 years and has been a member of local groups SheBangg and Moonshine Runners amongst others.
Rob Cooper is best known as half of the popular duo Cooper & Davies who came together for their love of Rootsy Americana and vocal harmonies. They were once introduced by ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris on the BBC introducing Stage at The Long Road Festival, played with O2 in London and are regulars at the Dartmouth Musical Festival. He has also lent his bass skills to Booyaka, Moonshine Runners and The Beautiful Ways.
Leyton Burgess has been a regular drummer on the Shropshire music scene for over 30 years, providing rhythm and backing vocals to well-known local bands Booyaka (who once performed a mini- tour of Barcelona) The Graham Clews Band, SheBangg and The Beautiful Ways. He has also featured in tribute bands to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Led Zeppelin (the latter, Miss-Led, once playing at the prestigious Cambridge Rock Festival)
Between them, the trio have almost 80 years of gigging experience! Their set include covers from The Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Kinks to Fleetwood Mac, The Police and Peter Gabriel and is peppered with a handful of original compositions
